Summer student Meredith James with one of many buckets on hand for catching drips from a leaky roof at the Yarmouth County Museum & Archives. The museum is seeking donations towards the estimated $68,000 cost of repair.
A roof section of the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives is leaking and director/curator Nadine Gates and her staff are kept busy emptying containers in rainy weather.
“We’re running out of buckets,” she said, while looking at the assortment grouped on the floor on June 20.
The exhibit area affected is just inside the main entrance to the right, where the Mi’kmaq display cases and a section of the C.E Dyke cabinets are located. The exhibits have been covered with plastic for now.
The roof has lots of “valleys and peaks” and that adds up to a higher cost for roofing repairs, Gates says. Yarmouth County Museum fundraising for roof repair
