Between 1933 to 1944, the federal New Deal funded numerous, colonial revival-themed art and architecture projects, including the Aiken Hospital. The colonial revival design of the old hospital ideally exemplifies Roosevelt’s modern interpretation of colonial revivalism, portraying not only classic symmetry, an ornamented entrance way, but, also, a modern, flat roof.
